Please note: I am not a vet.
This article is written from my own personal experience. I advise everyone to first seek the advise of a vet. First and foremost YOU need to ensure that your rabbits are staying cool during the hottest months of the year to avoid this all!!! Domestic rabbits do not tolerate heat very well, and depend on YOU to keep them cool!!! Check on your rabbits often during the day with the heat is the highest!!! Early detection is the best way to pull a bunny from heat stroke back to health!!! Signs of heat stroke: Listlessness, not wanting to move Weak, falling over Cant hold up head Flared nostrils Super heavy breathing If you notice #1-3 you must take immediate action!!! Until you can reach a vet here are a few things you can do! Immediately soak the rabbit in cool water (be careful not to drown it!!!) Take a towel and soak it with water, wrap the wet towel around the wet rabbit. Place the rabbit in a tub or box with either frozen water bottles or ice cubes around it. Place this tub or box in front of a fan or air conditioning system. |
