How Big Do Mini Lops Get?
Mini Lops get between 5-7 pounds with 6 1/2 pounds being ideal. Anything over 6 1/2 pounds is a disqualification. Seven pound Mini lops can be considered either overweight, or large boned, depending on bone density

Miniature Dachshunds average in size from 8 pounds to 12 pounds. AKC requires a Mini Dachshund to be 11 pounds or less
What is the difference between a pedigree and an arba registration?
A rabbit pedigree is a 3-4 generation listing of an animals parents, grand parents and great grand parents. A pedigree is provided by the breeder an should include the Names, weights, ear numbers, colors, registration and grand champion numbers (when available) of all rabbits within 3 generations. A breeder signs the pedigree stating that it is correct to his or her knowledge.
A ARBA Registration is similar to a pedigree, it offers the same information. However, in order for the rabbit to be registered, the owner must first be a member of ARBA. The owner must present the rabbit, the Membership card and the pedigree to an ARBA Registrar at an ARBA sanctioned show. The rabbit must be at the least 6 months old, with a completed pedigree showing all weights, names, ear numbers and colors in all three generations.
The Registrar will examine the animal to ensure that it presents no disqualifications at the time of registration and is within required weight. Once the rabbit has been weighed and examined, the Registrar will tattoo the rabbit in the right ear with a registration symbol or number. The owner must then sign a registration application after verifying all recorded information is correct.
At this time, the registrar will give the owner a pink copy of registration. The orginal form is sent into ARBA and within about 30 days ARBA will send the owner a certified certificate of Registration.

Do you offer stud service from any of your Mini Lop bucks?
Any Senior doe, whose last litter was more than 6 weeks prior to sale and is in good healthy condition can be bred to ANY buck we have available prior to leaving when sold. There is no guarantee on a litter being produced, and there is no additional fee.
Stud service to does outside of our barn, can be done in exchange for pick of litter after inspection of both doe and buck showing that neither are ill, or show any signs of vent or other diseases. Pedigree will be provided when choice of litter has been made, or declined.

Can I Change the name of my rabbit?
Absolutely not! By changing the name of a rabbit you are falsifying paperwork. In a senior animal you are messing up generations down the line. A rabbit's name is part of it's identification, along with it's ear number. Not only can this throw off future breedings, but can also throw off the original breeders records.
However, if you received a young rabbit with a Name such as GML 1234, where 1234 is also the ear number, then contact the breeder to ask if you can change that to a name. Be sure to let the breeder know what name you chose so they can update their records.
When in doubt...always ask the breeder before you make any changes or corrections to your pedigree.

What does it mean when a rabbit has one or two legs?
Legs are awards won in ARBA sanctioned shows.
A rabbit can earn a leg by winning first in it's class if there are at least five total rabbits entered and three different exhibitors showing.
Rabbits can also win legs for Best of Variety and Best Opposite of Variety, Best of Breed, Best Opposit of Breed, Reserve in Show and Best In Show.

For example: Your rabbit wins first in class with enough entries and exhibitors, your rabbit earned a leg. Then your rabbit goes up for best of Variety. If your rabbit wins Best of Variety the award is bumped up. If your rabbit does not win Best of variety, you still earn your class leg.
Once your rabbit has earned three total legs you can send in those legs with payment to ARBA for a Grand Championship Certificate. Your Rabbit must first be registered, and you must be an ARBA member to get this certificate. How much do you feed your mini lops?
Our Senior Mini Lops are fed 3/4 measured cup of food a day. Most of the time they dont even finish that.
Nursing does are fed two cups a day, adjusted per what they actually consume, but not over two cups.
Once babies start climbing out of the box and eating pellets they are free fed, doe included.
Babies are weaned promptly at 8 weeks and continue to be free fed until senior weight has been reached or 6 months of age, which ever is sooner. Mama's go back to regular feedings of 3/4 cup per day.

What is the cost to purchase a mini lop or a harlequin?
Purchase price depends on the quality of available animal, it's winnings if any, and background. Prices can range anywhere from $25 up as much as $200.

Do you offer discount for youth or 4h?
In most cases, we do not. Unfortunately many adults are now taking advtange of discounts offered to youth to get youth prices. Our prices are well below value to offset this. We are also willing to work with active youth interested in the rabbit hobby and help them acheive their goals and dreams.

How do i earn a free rabbit?
To earn a Free rabbit, you must have purchased a rabbit from me, bred by me bearing the BHMB prefix on it's name. You must show this rabbit at ARBA sanctioned shows earning it a Grand Championship title.
Once you earn the Grand Champion title, you must send me a copy of the certificate and a photos. This certificate must match my sales records showing that this rabbit's name and ear number matches the rabbit you purchased from me. This rabbit must be directly purchased from me, not a third party.
Once I receive this certificate, upon availabillity you will receive a free rabbit of equal value of the original purchase. You will be responsible to insure transportation to obtain your free bunny. We do offer free transport to any shows that we attend.

Somewhat.
I will guarantee that if you purchased a doe, and it turns out to be a buck, I will replace that buck with a doe of equal value upon availability The originally purchased rabbit must be returned in good health with all paperwork included.
I do guarantee each animal is in good health at the time of sale. Once an animal leaves my hands, wether right into the buyer's hands, transporter or airlines, the condition and the health of the animal is no longer my responsibility.
All rabbits are carefully inspected at the time of sale for any signs of illness and then again right before leaving our barn.

Do You Ship?
Yes, I would be willing to ship rabbits by air. However this is a spendy and time consuming way of transport. So therefore we will only ship by means of air, if you purchase 3 or more.
What are the guidelines for air shipping?
Each airline will have their own set of rules and guidelines. These can change at a moments notice, it is always best to check with each individual airline to get the most updated rules and regulations for shipping.
what is the process for shipping by air?
Well first off, because this is such a timely process, one must first purchase 3 or more rabbits from me. If you only want say, one or two, ask a friend if they are looking to purchase. Shipping for 1 rabbit is the same for 3-6 rabbits.
So we have our rabbits picked out...next step. An airline approved carrier must be purchased. These can be found at KWcages. The carrier needs to be large enough for the rabbit to lay down and turn around. Also needs to be large enough to allow two feed cups for food and water inside each hole. I have found the easiest way to do this is YOU order the carriers that you need and cooresponding feed dishes and have them shipped to my address. This order can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks to arrive.
Once the carriers have arrived, the next step is to call the airlines. Here in Montana we have two major airlines ONLY. United and Delta. I personally prefer United. They have pressure treated and temerature controled cabins. The staff is much friendlier and easier to deal with. Plus their rates are just a bit less then Delta. You the buyer, will have to contact the airlines and make your reservations. Ask for several spots, with different days and time, that work within your schedule, so that I may choose one that works within mine. Dont forget to cancel the spots we dont use, so that someone else can utilize them!
Next step, while on the phone with the airline besure to inquire about the cost. In most cases airefare has cost anywhere from $300= to $600. United airline requires that airfare be paid upon check in. Should you choose to go United, this money will need to be sent to me prior to the flight. So be sure to give yourself enough time in advance when making your reservation.
So now we have chosen the rabbits, ordered and received the shipping carriers, made the reservations.....what's next?
Next we need to obtain health certificates from a lisenced veterinarian for each individual rabbit. Health certificates need to be issued within 30 days of the flight, and each needs to show that the animals are healthy enough to fly. Health certificates can be anywhere for $10 per rabbit to $30 per rabbit, depending on the vet used.
You may choose which vet in my area of which to obtain these certificates. Payment for the certificates can be done by you via phone. The time and day of the appointment shall be at my descretion per my own schedule.
Also, please know that because of my location, there shall be other fees on top of all that I have mentioned about for my fuel to transport to and from the vet and to and from the airport. All purchased rabbits, fees, fuel, etc must be paid for prior to me putting the animals on the plane. Exception shall be only those choosing to fly with Delta, who offers a COD on airfare. However in that case, everything other than the cost of airfare must be paid.

where are we located?
We are located in North Central Montana in an extremely small town called Shelby. We are about 45 minutes from the Canadian Border. The closest large town is Great Falls and it is about 76 miles away, one way.
